This offhand remark made by actor Tom Holland in 2018 sent shockwaves through Marvel fans worldwide. It effectively revealed Spider-Man’s fate in advance to fans who hadn’t yet seen the movie *Avengers: Infinity War*. That’s why fans call him “Spoiler-Man.”

Tom Holland is considered the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) quintessential “Spoiler-Man.” He has repeatedly let key plot points and developments slip during interviews and promotional events, earning him the nickname “Marvel’s biggest security risk.” The anecdote that Marvel Studios changed its security protocols for a single actor has now become a famous story among fans.
A prime example occurred during the 2017 promotional tour for *Spider-Man: Homecoming*. During an interview at the time, he was the first to mention that the MCU Spider-Man series was planned as a trilogy. This plan, which had not yet been officially announced, was revealed first through the actor’s own words.
A similar incident occurred the following year during the promotional campaign for *Avengers: Infinity War*. He said, “This time, we’re going to space,” effectively spoiling the fact that Spider-Man would participate in a space battle. After the film’s release, he even caused a bit of a stir during a live social media broadcast when he said, “Don’t worry. In contrast, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Doctor Strange, made fans laugh by interrupting Tom Holland during every interview, acting as a self-proclaimed “human spoiler blocker.”
At one point, it was even said that “Marvel’s PR team gets the most nervous whenever Tom Holland is interviewed,” but now he has become the actor who understands the gravity of spoilers better than anyone else.
