On the 6th, Netflix announced, “‘I’
m Single’
and ‘I’m Single: Love Continues’ (Na Sol Sa Gye) will be available for global streaming starting in the second half of this year.” While the show will continue to air on ENA and SBS Plus in South Korea and remain available on existing services such as IPTV, it will no longer be available on Wavve, TVING, or Coupang Play.
Netflix plans to simultaneously release “I’m Single”—which had previously been available only in South Korea—in 190 countries worldwide starting in the second half of the year. Subtitles in English, Spanish, and other languages will be provided, and the range of supported languages is expected to continue expanding. The production team of “I’m Single” stated, “There is only one reason we’re partnering with Netflix: global expansion,” adding, “We hope this excellent content reaches international audiences properly so that more people can enjoy it, and we determined that Netflix is the most appropriate platform for that.”
“I’m Single,” which premiered in 2021, has garnered viewer interest by depicting realistic stories. Unlike other dating shows that focus on romantic thrills, each episode features cast members who are difficult to understand, sparking heated debates. Attention is now focused on whether this unique format will resonate with international audiences.
Previously, Korean dramas have been at the center of the K-content craze. However, with “Physical 100” becoming the first South Korean variety show in history to top Netflix’s Global TV (Non-English) chart—entering the Top 10 in 82 countries immediately upon release—and “The Black and White Chef” leading the global K-chef craze by ranking No. 1 weekly in numerous countries for both Seasons 1 and 2, K-variety programs are also receiving a positive response overseas. all eyes are now on what kind of response “I’m Single” will generate.
Netflix has already secured a global audience for dating variety shows with titles such as “Too Hot,” “Dating Experiment: Blind Love,” “Perfect Match,” and “Love on the Spectrum.” With Netflix having captivated global viewers with numerous dating variety shows, all eyes are on whether its partnership with “I’m Single” will yield positive results.
