[Edaily Reporter NA EUN-KYUNG ] DaewonPharmaceutical(003220)announced on the 7th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 310.9 billion won, operating profit of 4.4 billion won, and net income of 5.7 billion won for the first half of this year.
Revenue increased by 3.1% year-over-year, surpassing 310 billion won in the first half of the year for the first time. While operating profit decreased by 45.3%, net income rose by 308.0% thanks to improvements in non-operating income and expenses, including gains from the disposal of investment assets.
First-half performance continued to show revenue growth, driven by expanded prescriptions for chronic disease treatments and growth in the health functional food business. Although sales of some flagship products, such as “Pelubi” and “DAEWON CO., LTD.’s “Codewon,” declined due to drug price cuts and a decrease in the prevalence of respiratory diseases, the chronic disease product line—including the “Idalbi Family”—continued to grow.
The health functional foods business also contributed to the improved performance. Driven by strong sales of key products such as “Kkuljam Shot” and “Hair Collagen 3X,” the health functional foods division recorded sales of 20.7 billion won.
However, the company expanded its investments in research and development (R&D) and new product marketing to secure future growth engines. Reflecting expenses for new drug development and the launch of new health functional foods, selling, general, and administrative expenses (SG&A) for the first half of the year increased by 8.8% compared to the same period last year.
A DaewonPharmaceutical official stated, “Thanks to the growth of our chronic disease treatment and health functional food businesses, we surpassed 310 billion won in revenue for the first half of the year,” adding, “In the second half, we plan to diversify our portfolio with a focus on chronic disease treatments and health functional foods, while also concentrating on improving profitability through cost efficiency.”
