[Edaily Starin, Reporter Gim Ga Yeong ] Actor Cha In-pyo reminisced about his late friend, who passed away 13 years ago.

Appearing as a guest on the interview segment “Your Life” of the YouTube channel “Shinaelife,” which premieres on the 7th, Cha In-pyo candidly reflected on his life as an actor, husband, and father.
Cha In-pyo described himself as “someone who enjoys breaking the mold.” After quitting his corporate job to pursue acting, he expanded his horizons to become a novelist, and recently made his stage debut in a play—his first in 33 years since his acting debut.
Although he initially hesitated to appear in a play, he found the courage through the encouragement of Shin Ae-ra and his mother. “I try to choose work that, when I look back on it in my final moments, will make me think, ‘I’m glad I made this choice,’” he said. Regarding the new actors he’s performing with, he remarked, “Ultimately, it was the young actors who helped me make my debut as a stage actor,” adding, “I think people live by becoming each other’s audience and cheering one another on. The same goes for married couples.”
While looking at old family photos, Cha In-pyo became emotional as he recalled the moment he first met his daughter, Ye-eun. “It wasn’t just that our family grew by one little life,” he reflected, “but that my entire perspective on the world changed.” To Shin Ae-ra, who first suggested adoption, he confessed, “It made me realize that a wife can give her husband a daughter he never even imagined,” adding, “Thanks to you, I made a truly good choice, and I’ve come to believe I’ve lived a meaningful life.”
Cha In-pyo also reflected on the most difficult time of his life. He recalled parting with his younger brother, who passed away in 2013. He explained that he had stepped down from the SBS talk show “Thank You,” which he was hosting at the time, to stay by his younger brother’s side as he battled oral cancer. “I didn’t even have the time to grieve the loss of my brother,” he said, opening up about how he had to prioritize caring for his parents, who had lost a child; his nephew, who had lost his father; and his sister-in-law, who had lost her husband. Regarding Shin Ae-ra, who held her brother’s hand and prayed with him as he took his last breath, she confided, “It’s one of the moments I’m most grateful for in my life,” adding, “It was a great comfort during that unbearable moment of farewell.”
The couple, now in their 31st year of marriage, looked into each other’s eyes that day and shared feelings they had not yet been able to express. “Your Life,” featuring Cha In-pyo, will be released on the 7th via the YouTube channel “Shinaelife.”
Cha In-pyo is preparing for the release of the movie *Cross* and is currently performing in the stage play *Dead Poets Society*. He is showcasing a new side of himself by taking on a variety of projects.
