Its cumulative audience total stands at 1,377,286. Close on the heels of *The Odyssey* was *Spider-Man: A Brand New Day* (Spider-Man 4). It drew 514,132 viewers on the same day, ranking second. The difference in daily attendance between the two films was only about 11,500. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has a cumulative total of 5,448,250 viewers and continues its long-running success. These two Hollywood blockbusters, aimed at the summer box office, are engaged in a fierce battle for the top spot, each drawing over 500,000 viewers per day. It is particularly noteworthy that *The Odyssey*, in its opening weekend, managed to overtake *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*—which had already surpassed 5 million viewers—to claim the top spot. Animated films targeting family audiences also contributed to the box office success. “Love’s Hachuping: The Legend of the Whale Jewel” followed with 124,187 viewers, while “Hope” drew 37,846 and “David” attracted 5,847 viewers, respectively. “The Odyssey” also maintains its lead in future box office projections. As of 2:30 p.m. on the 9th, advance ticket sales for “The Odyssey” totaled 627,533 tickets. “Spider-Man: A Brand New Day” stood at 252,705 tickets, with “The Odyssey” leading by more than double that figure. “The Odyssey” depicts the journey of Odysseus, the hero who led the Trojan War to victory, as he makes his way back home. Directed by Christopher Nolan, this new film adapts Homer’s epic poem for the screen and stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. It has garnered significant attention even before its release, particularly because it is a major production filmed entirely with IMAX film cameras.
