[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] POSCO DX(022100)is launching a corporate social responsibility project to support the development of YouTube creators with disabilities. The initiative aims to assist people with disabilities in their content creation activities by providing a comprehensive program ranging from video production training to content contests.
POSCO DX announced on the 10th that it is running the “Dream Green” project to support the development of YouTube creators with disabilities. It is funded by the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation, which is supported by voluntary donations from POSCO Group employees and company matching grants.
This project provides educational programs where people with disabilities can learn how to plan, film, and edit YouTube content. Since 2019, it has also held an annual contest to enable participants to produce and showcase content using the skills they acquired through the training.
In last year’s contest, a video by Kim Se-jin—who lost both legs in an accident as a child—received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award. Kim’s video documented her journey to become a fashion model using prosthetic legs; it was praised for presenting her disability not as something that sets her apart, but as a unique part of her identity.
Now in its eighth year, the contest is open to all people with disabilities. Participants may form teams of up to four members, including people without disabilities. Entry categories include improving public perception of people with disabilities, everyday safety, and the environment. A special award will be presented for content created using generative artificial intelligence (AI).
Reflecting society’s growing concern for safety, a new “Safety” category was introduced this year. POSCO DX plans to create content that captures the perspectives of participants with disabilities on building a safe environment.
The deadline for contest submissions is the 31st of this month. Outstanding entries selected through the judging process will be honored at an awards ceremony in early November with prizes including the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the Minister of Health and Welfare Award, the Minister of Environment Award, the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award, the POSCO DX President’s Award, and the Korea National Parks Service Chairman’s Award.
Since May, POSCO DX has been conducting online video production training for approximately 390 people with disabilities. The company is also providing in-person training at welfare centers and special education schools in Pohang, Gwangyang, Seoul, and Yongin, supplying filming studios, equipment, and props.
Last June, the company held a follow-up development program at Woljeongsa Temple in Odaesan National Park to help outstanding participants from previous contests strengthen their content production skills.
A total of 369 entries were submitted to last year’s contest. As interest in solo media and YouTube content continues to grow, POSCO DX expects many people with disabilities to participate in this year’s contest as well.
