Naver announced on the 10th that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Institute for Lifelong Education at Naver 1784 in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on the 7th.

This agreement was initiated to enhance the AI and digital literacy of seniors and the digitally underserved in their daily lives and to bridge the digital divide in the era of the AI transformation.

The two organizations plan to expand lifelong learning opportunities by jointly developing and distributing AI and digital lifelong learning content.

In particular, they will produce digital literacy textbooks based on the Whale browser. These textbooks will cover how to use Naver services necessary for daily life, such as how to use Naver Shopping and the features of the Whale browser.

Naver intends to enhance its own services—such as AI commerce and its browser—while simultaneously expanding educational support to ensure that anyone can easily access digital services.

The National Institute for Lifelong Education plans to strengthen digital literacy education for seniors and digitally underserved populations by linking Naver’s technological capabilities with the educational field.

Kim Wol-yong, President of the National Institute for Lifelong Education, stated, “By linking Naver’s technological capabilities with the educational sector in the era of generative AI, we will be able to innovatively bridge the digital literacy gap in everyday life,” adding, “We will take the lead in realizing universal lifelong education welfare by organically connecting the infrastructure of both institutions.”

Lee Yoon-sook, Head of Naver’s Shopping Business Division, said, “While we are enhancing various services to meet the needs of the AI commerce era, we will also strive to provide educational support through this agreement so that Naver Shopping and other AI-based services can become easy-to-use and convenient tools for everyone.”
