On the 10th, Jeongyeon posted a handwritten letter on her social media channels, stating, “I am leaving JYP, where I’ve spent a long time since my teens, and am now looking to make a fresh start at a new agency.” She continued, “Although I was afraid to leave a place I’m so familiar with, I was able to find the courage thanks to my members and ‘ONCE’ (the fan club name), who believed in me,” adding, “I’m so grateful to my members and ‘ONCE’—more than words can express—and to the JYP family who helped me grow.” Jeongyeon has been active as a member of the JYP-affiliated girl group TWICE since 2015. Jeongyeon expressed her determination to continue with the group, saying, “Although I’m moving on to a new home and embarking on a new challenge, I will continue to cherish TWICE—the very center of my being—just as I have until now.” She also pledged, “I will prepare for both my journey as Jeongyeon of TWICE and the new challenges I’ll face as Yoo Jeong-yeon, one step at a time, with all my heart.” Jeongyeon has joined Baro Entertainment, an agency specializing in actors that represents her older sister Gong Seung-yeon (real name Yoo Seung-yeon), as well as Jin-gu, Byun Woo-seok, Park Jung-woo, Lee Yu-mi, Lee Hong-nae, Lee Soo-kyung, Lee Chae-min, and Kim Si-ah. She is expected to continue her individual activities with a focus on acting moving forward. Barro Entertainment announced the signing of an exclusive contract with Jung-yeon that day, stating, “We deeply resonated with Jung-yeon’s sincere attitude and dedication toward acting. Building on the global presence she has cultivated over many years as an artist, we will serve as a steadfast partner, providing generous support in every way to ensure she can smoothly pursue not only her new challenges as an actress but also her group activities.”
