(Photo: Big Hit Music)According to the music industry on the 10th, the Toronto City Council recently reviewed and approved a proposal to temporarily designate certain sections of city roads as “BTS Boulevard” from the 21st (local time) through the 23rd of next month, coinciding with BTS’s concert dates. BTS will hold tour concerts at Rogers Stadium in Toronto on the 22nd and 23rd. The Toronto City Council has decided to request that the mayor declare this period “BTS Weekend.” Additionally, the council approved a plan to illuminate the sculpture in front of Toronto City Hall in purple—BTS’s signature color—on the days of the concerts. In response, their agency, Big Hit Music, stated that the City of Toronto had inquired about permission to use intellectual property (IP) for the honorary street name and the “BTS Weekend” proclamation, adding, “We are currently engaged in discussions regarding this matter.” BTS kicked off their “Arirang” tour last April at the Main Stadium of the Goyang Sports Complex and began their North American concert schedule in New York this month. At each tour stop, they have been warmly welcomed not only by fans but also by heads of state and local governments. Earlier in Mexico City, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum presented commemorative plaques to the BTS members. During their concert in Paris, France, President Emmanuel Macron and his wife watched the performance from the audience. El Paso County, Texas, awarded BTS the “Estimado Amigo” (Dear Friend) award and declared the concert period “El Paso BTS Weekend.”
