The prosecution is expected to present its sentencing recommendation during the hearing. Hwang Jung-min filed a complaint against Mr. A last August on charges including violation of the Anti-Stalking Act. In February, the court issued a summary order fining Mr. A 3 million won, but Mr. A appealed the decision, claiming innocence and requesting a full trial. Mr. A has continued to make revelations by releasing text messages and recorded phone calls exchanged with a man believed to be Hwang Jung-min via social media. Mr. A has consistently denied the stalking charges, arguing that his relationship with Hwang Jung-min was mutual, not one-sided. On the 29th of last month, Ms. A raised allegations of an extramarital affair with Hwang Jung-min via social media, and the claims spread through online communities and social media platforms. In response, Hwang Jung-min’s agency, Sam Company, issued an official statement, saying, “Ms. A is a suspect in a stalking crime who has continuously harassed Hwang Jung-min,” and added, “The court imposed provisional measures, including a restraining order, on the suspect on three separate occasions and issued a summary order imposing a fine of 3 million won after acknowledging the stalking charges.” Mr. A denied the stalking allegations and signaled his intention to contest the matter in court. Regarding Hwang Jung-min’s criminal complaint against him, he stated, “I have appealed this decision, asserted my innocence, and requested a formal trial,” adding, “There is no final guilty verdict.” He also noted that he is currently pursuing a civil lawsuit against Hwang Jung-min seeking damages for tortious conduct.
