[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] SHINSUNG E&G(011930)is shifting to mass production of high-output solar modules by launching a new production line at its Gimje plant in North Jeolla Province. The company plans to respond to the government’s policy of expanding renewable energy while strengthening its competitiveness in the solar business, particularly in the Saemangeum region.

SHINSUNG E&G announced on the 11th that it held a “New Production Line Launch Event” at its Gimje plant in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, officially marking the transition to mass production of high-output solar modules through line upgrades.

The event was attended by SHINSUNG E&G CEO Lee Ji-sun and other key executives, along with employees from the Renewable Energy (RE) Business Division, as well as officials from Gimje City and the Gimje Free Trade Zone Management Office under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

SHINSUNG E&G had previously announced a strategy in May to realign its solar business portfolio to focus on high-power, high-efficiency, and low-carbon products. The launch of this new production line is a follow-up measure to that strategy. Rather than simply expanding production capacity, the company focused on upgrading existing lines to establish a stable mass production system for high-power modules.

Through this, TAEYANG Corporation aims to align with the government’s carbon neutrality policy and renewable energy expansion roadmap while enhancing the competitiveness of its products in the domestic solar market.

In particular, the company plans to utilize its Gimje plant as a core production hub for solar power projects in the Saemangeum region. SHINSUNG E&G has participated in large-scale projects in the Saemangeum region, including the 80 MW Saemangeum Onshore Solar Power Project, the 74 MW Saemangeum Sunshine Sharing Project, and the 300 MW Saemangeum Community-Led Floating Solar Power Project.

In addition, the company has secured contracts for nationwide power generation projects, including the 47-MW Imha Dam and the 21-MW Hapcheon Dam floating solar power projects. With the launch of this new production line, the company expects to strengthen its capacity to supply high-output modules required for large-scale solar projects, including those in the Saemangeum region.

The company is also expanding its cooperation with the local community. Since signing an investment agreement with Gimje City and establishing its facility there, SHINSUNG E&G has been promoting local employment and revitalizing the related industrial ecosystem. Recently, the company has also been participating in the Saemangeum community-led floating solar power generation project, which involves the Saemangeum Development Agency, Gunsan City, Gimje City, Buan County, and related companies.

In the power generation sector, the company is expanding its Renewable Energy Service Company (ReSCO) business in response to the “Sunlight Income Village” policy, a community-participation-based distributed generation initiative. Having been officially registered as a ReSCO operator by the Korea Energy Agency last May, the company plans to establish a business structure that encompasses everything from solar module manufacturing to power generation projects, leveraging the production capacity of its Gimje facility.

An official from SHINSUNG E&G stated, “As the only solar module manufacturing hub in the Jeonbuk region, the launch of this new production line will serve as a catalyst for the Gimje plant to emerge as a true high-output module production hub in both name and reality,” adding, “We will continue to grow alongside the region by closely collaborating with Jeollabuk-do, Gimje City, and the Saemangeum Development Agency.”
