On the 11th, Prain TPC announced, “We have signed an exclusive contract with musical writer Park Cheon-hyu,” adding, “We plan to spare no effort in supporting him so that he can continue his meaningful creative work.” The agency went on to say, “We ask for your continued interest and warm support for writer Park Cheon-hyu.”
Park Cheon-hyu is a writer and director known for penning and writing lyrics for works recognized for their artistic merit and quality, including the musicals *Bungee Jumping*, *Maybe Happy Ending*, *Il Tenore*, and *Ghost Bakery*.
Following his win for Best Composition and Lyrics for *Bungee Jumping* at the 2013 “The Musical Awards,” he received the Best Script and Lyrics Award for *Maybe Happy Ending* at the 2018 “Korea Musical Awards,” and in 2025, he won the Grand Prize at the “Korea Musical Awards” for *Il Tenore*, cementing his status as one of South Korea’s leading original musical creators.

Park Cheon-hyu has also recently made history on the global stage with “Maybe Happy Ending,” extending his success beyond Korea. At the Tony Awards—one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in American popular culture—*Maybe Happy Ending*, which he wrote, was nominated in a staggering 10 categories and achieved the remarkable feat of winning a total of six awards, including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Music and Lyrics, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Leading Actor in a Musical, and Best Scenic Design. This marks the first time a musical created by a Korean artist has won a Tony Award and is regarded as a significant achievement that has elevated the status of Korean musicals.
“Maybe Happy Ending” is an original musical created by writer Park Cheon-hyu in collaboration with composer Will Aronson, whom he met while studying at New York University. Set in Seoul and Jeju in the near future, the story follows “helper robots” Oliver and Claire—created to assist people—as they fall in love during their journey to find Oliver’s owner, James.
