DSP to Handle Production and Management for Oh My Girl
[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] RBW is restructuring its in-house label operations. WM Entertainment will change its name to “StrangeLab,” and DSP Media will take over the production and management of the group Oh My Girl, which has been under WM Entertainment. On the 11th, RBW announced that it is reorganizing the operational structure of some of its labels to strengthen each label’s expertise and create an environment where the company can focus more on its artists. The most significant change is the name change of WM Entertainment. WM Entertainment will rebrand as StrangeLab and establish a new business structure. 257 Entertainment, which was absorbed through a comprehensive business transfer last April, will also be integrated under the single name StrangeLab. The name “WM Entertainment,” which has been in use for a long time, will now be consigned to history. RBW explained, “We will cherish the name ‘WM Entertainment’ as a precious journey we’ve shared over the years, and moving forward, we aim to build our future under the new name, Strange Lab.” Strange Lab will focus on two main business areas. First, it will pursue new strategic ventures by integrating information technology (IT) with the RBW Group’s intellectual property (IP), including music, video content, and artists. The plan is to expand the scope of IP utilization to create new added value in the global market. It will also continue its entertainment business. As the agency for the groups XLOV and LU, Strange Lab will be responsible for all aspects of artist production, planning, and management. Based on this, the company plans to develop them into music labels with their own unique identities. DSP Media will oversee Oh My Girl’s activities. Going forward, DSP Media—an affiliate of RBW—will handle all aspects of Oh My Girl’s production, planning, creation, and management. The plan is to focus DSP Media’s accumulated expertise in music production and artist management on Oh My Girl to support their future music and content activities. Accordingly, Oh My Girl—who have long served as WM Entertainment’s flagship artists—will continue their activities under the DSP Media system following this restructuring. This reorganization has also led to a clearer division of roles among the labels under RBW. Strange Lab will handle new businesses combining IP and IT, as well as music operations centered on X-Love and Loo, while DSP Media will expand its artist business by taking on Oh My Girl’s activities as well. RBW stated, “This organizational restructuring is intended to strengthen the unique identities and expertise of each label and provide the optimal environment for our artists.”
