[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] As allegations of pro-Japanese collaboration by actor Ha Young’s great-grandfather, Ahn Sang-ho, continue to spread, interest in her upcoming SBS drama *We Have a Chance* is also growing.

On the 11th, the production team of SBS’s “We Have a Chance” stated, “A significant portion of filming has already been completed, but we ask for your understanding as we are unable to disclose details regarding the amount of footage or the specific progress rate at this time.” They added, “We are aware of the matter and are closely monitoring how the situation unfolds. We will provide an update once more information becomes available.”
It was recently revealed that Ha Young’s great-grandfather was Ahn Sang-ho, and controversy has erupted as allegations of his pro-Japanese activities have surfaced. Ahn Sang-ho studied Western medicine in Tokyo, Japan, and became the first Korean to open a Western-style hospital; he also treated members of the royal family. However, according to an article published in the Maeil Shinbo in 1918, Ahn Sang-ho stated upon marrying a Japanese woman, “I am exactly the same as a Japanese person. I don’t own a single set of Joseon clothing, and I can’t eat spicy food at all,” and suspicions of pro-Japanese collaboration arose after it was revealed that he was a member of the Daijeong Friendship Association.
A representative from Ha Young’s agency, Busters Entertainment, stated, “We have confirmed that records do indeed exist showing that her great-grandfather, Mr. Ahn Sang-ho, was listed as a council member of the Daijeong Friendship Society in 1916,” adding, “Through this incident, we have deeply realized how careful verification is required when conveying historical facts and an individual’s background to the public. Actress Ha Young also deeply regrets the concern this matter has caused and will approach her work with a more cautious and humble attitude going forward,” the representative added.
In the wake of this incident, Ha Young canceled her interview for the recently released Netflix series *Such a Shitty Love*, and her co-star, Jung Hae-in, also canceled all of his scheduled interviews.
Meanwhile, “We Have a Chance” is a legal detective drama starring Lee Je-hoon and Ha Young. Filming is currently underway, with the goal of airing in the first half of next year.
