[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES ( MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES(006800)) announced on the 12th that it posted a consolidated net profit of 1.9052 trillion won for the second quarter of this year. Following a net profit of 1.0019 trillion won in the first quarter, MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES has once again surpassed the 1 trillion won mark, becoming the first firm in the securities industry to achieve a net profit of 1 trillion won for two consecutive quarters. (Photo = E-Daily DB Inc.) According to MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES, second-quarter pre-tax profit on a consolidated basis was 2.5287 trillion won, and net profit was 1.9052 trillion won, representing increases of 86% and 90%, respectively, compared to the previous quarter. As of the end of the second quarter, shareholders’ equity stood at 16.2 trillion won, and the annualized return on equity (ROE) for the first half of the year reached 39.5%. Cumulative pre-tax profit for the first half totaled 3.8863 trillion won, while net profit reached 2.9072 trillion won, representing increases of 349% and 338%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES explained that this is significant because stable profit growth continued across its major business segments—including △Wealth Management (WM) and Pensions, △Brokerage, and △Trading—further strengthening the foundation for generating recurring profits. First, the domestic business continued to show robust growth, driven primarily by the Brokerage and WM segments, thanks to an expansion in client assets and increased trading activity. Second-quarter brokerage commission revenue reached 625.6 billion won, a 36% increase from the previous quarter, while commission revenue from financial product sales also hit 131.0 billion won, surpassing the first quarter’s 112.5 billion won to set a new all-time high. Total domestic and international assets under management (AUM) reached 784 trillion won, an increase of 124 trillion won compared to the first quarter. Pension assets also continued to expand steadily, surpassing 80 trillion won as of the end of June. Over the past year, the growth rate of retirement pension reserves exceeded 60%, reaching approximately 2.5 times the market average. Recently, the company launched its retirement pension Robo-WRAP service—which handles everything from portfolio construction to actual trading—through IRP accounts, further enhancing its customized asset management solutions. Overseas subsidiaries achieved unprecedented results, driven by growth in ordinary income and valuation gains on investment assets. Second-quarter pre-tax profit totaled approximately 609.1 billion won, with major overseas hubs—including the U.S. (37%), Hong Kong (35%), London (18%), and India (5%)—delivering balanced performance. The contribution of overseas subsidiaries to consolidated pre-tax profit was approximately 24%, an increase of 6 percentage points from the previous quarter. Trading and other financial gains and losses rose 107% quarter-over-quarter to 836.9 billion won, while investment banking (IB) fee revenue increased 65% to 42.8 billion won. In addition, MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES is expanding its next-generation wealth management ecosystem centered on a global investment platform. Last June, the company launched MAPS, a global investment platform encompassing both traditional and digital assets, in Hong Kong. It plans to gradually expand the service to major markets such as the U.S. and Singapore. The company is also working to establish an inbound distribution platform that allows global investors to invest directly in Korean stocks and Mirae Asset ETFs. In the digital finance sector, the company is preparing the necessary infrastructure in line with the institutionalization of Security Token Offerings (STOs) and plans to expand its digital finance ecosystem—including the tokenization of Real-World Assets (RWAs) and tokenized securities—by leveraging synergies with Digital X (formerly Kobit). A MIRAE ASSET SECURITIES official stated, “We will continue to further solidify long-term trust with our customers and evolve into a global investment platform that contributes to their successful asset management.”
