[Incheon = E-Daily Reporter Lee Jong-Il ] A former executive of a small-to-medium-sized enterprise in Incheon has been arrested on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting a female employee in her 20s with an intellectual disability.

Judge Jeon Gyeong-ho, the warrant-specialized presiding judge at the Incheon District Court, announced on the 12th that he had issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Lee (in his 60s, male) after conducting a pre-arrest hearing (warrant review) on charges of quasi-rape of a person with a disability under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.

Chief Judge Jeon explained the grounds for issuing the warrant, stating, “There is a risk that the suspect may destroy evidence or flee.”

Mr. Lee is accused of sexually assaulting Ms. A (in her 20s, female), an employee with an intellectual disability at a laundry business in Namdong-gu, Incheon, on multiple occasions at an undisclosed location from last summer through June of this year. It is reported that Mr. Lee worked as the managing director at the same laundry business until June of this year but resigned after the incident came to light.

Ms. A became pregnant as a result of Mr. Lee’s sexual assault and gave birth to a daughter at a hospital on April 27 of this year. Investigations revealed that Mr. Lee continued to commit the crimes even after Ms. A gave birth. Ms. A has a Level 2 intellectual disability, equivalent to the intellectual level of a lower-grade elementary school student.

Police launched an investigation after receiving a report from Ms. A’s family last March. During the initial investigation, Ms. A did not identify Mr. Lee as the perpetrator, but she reportedly identified him as the suspect as the police investigation progressed. Police secured evidence by comparing the baby’s DNA with Mr. Lee’s, among other methods. Subsequently, police applied for a pre-arrest warrant for Mr. Lee.

Ms. A’s parents reported the matter to the police after belatedly learning that their unmarried daughter was pregnant. Ms. A is currently raising her newborn baby and recently resigned from her job.
