[Edaily Starin KIM HYUNSIK Reporter] A representative for Onew, a member of the group SHINee, has issued a statement following reports that he was summoned by police for questioning regarding allegations that he received illegal medical procedures from Ms. A, known as the “injection auntie.” Onew (Photo: Griffin Entertainment)In a statement released on the 12th, his agency, Griffin Entertainment, stated, “As we disclosed last December, Onew did visit a hospital in the past, introduced by an acquaintance, to receive treatment for skin care purposes,” adding, “At the time, Onew believed the individual to be a doctor or a medical professional affiliated with the hospital, and there were no circumstances that would have led him to suspect the legitimacy of the medical license or procedures.” The agency continued, “Accordingly, during an investigation conducted once last May, Onew truthfully stated the facts as described above and cooperated fully with the investigative authorities,” adding, “As the investigation is currently ongoing, we hope that unverified speculation or information contrary to the facts will not spread.” Mr. A is accused of administering IV drips and prescribing antidepressants to celebrities in private spaces—such as an officetel and a vehicle—without holding a domestic medical license. Following a travel ban imposed on Mr. A last December, police conducted a search and seizure of his residence and other locations, and summoned him for questioning in February. Allegations of Mr. A’s illegal medical practices surfaced after former managers of TV personality Park Na-rae revealed details of the case. Park Na-rae is under investigation on suspicion of receiving illegal medical treatments from Mr. A and appeared before police last May for her third round of questioning as a suspect. In connection with this, reports emerged today that the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul summoned and questioned On Yu, along with another SHINee member, Key, TV personality Jeon Hyun-moo, and YouTuber Ipjjaneun Haetnim, all in their capacity as suspects. It is reported that the police sought to confirm whether these individuals received medical procedures from A despite knowing that he did not hold a domestic medical license. Previously, in December of last year, when On Yu was embroiled in rumors linking him to Mr. A, he issued a statement through his agency, explaining, “In April 2022, I visited the hospital where Mr. A works for skin care purposes upon the recommendation of an acquaintance, but I was unaware of the controversy regarding his medical license.”
