[Edaily Reporter PARK MIN ] SamsungElectronics(005930)and SK hynix(000660)are showing gains in the 5–8% range in early trading on the 13th. This is interpreted as a sign that investor sentiment is improving, driven by the strong performance of semiconductor stocks on the New York Stock Exchange as demand for artificial intelligence (AI) investments has rebounded.
According to MP Doctor, as of 9:21 a.m. today, SK hynix is trading at 1,631,000 won, up 8.44% from the previous trading day. At the same time, SamsungElectronics is trading at 269,250 won, up 5.38%.
The upward trend in conglomerate stocks and electrical/electronics stocks is also notable. SKSQUARE(402340)is trading at 1,134,000 won, up 10.74%, while SamsungElectroMechanics(009150)is trading at 1,519,000 won, up 13.78%, posting the highest gain among the top market-cap stocks.
Overnight, the New York stock market staged a tech-led rebound, driven by solid earnings from artificial intelligence (AI) companies and the July Consumer Price Index (CPI) coming in line with market expectations—which eased concerns over interest rate hikes. This appears to have had a positive impact on the domestic stock market as well.
Cloud infrastructure provider CoreWeave surged more than 19% on news that its second-quarter adjusted operating margin exceeded expectations and revenue doubled year-over-year. Server manufacturer Supermicro Computer also rose 19% on the back of a robust revenue outlook for fiscal year 2027.
While NVIDIA rose 3.03%, other companies such as Micron (4.92%), SanDisk (5.76%), Western Digital (3.69%), and Seagate (7.03%) also posted strong gains. SK hynix American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) also jumped 9.01%.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) rose by about 3%, marking its largest weekly gain in a week. Eight of the 11 sectors in the S&P 500 rose, with the information technology sector posting the largest gain.
