MBC announced this news on the 13th, stating, “The Coupang Play series ‘Anna,’ which will premiere on MBC on the 23rd as a TV first, tells the story of Yumi (played by Suzy), who ends up living a completely different life after starting with a small lie.”
“Anna” follows Yumi (played by Suzy), who dreams of the life she wants but is torn by the gap between her dreams and reality; a small lie becomes the catalyst that leads her to gradually make different choices. The series previously garnered attention when it premiered as an original series on Coupang Play.
Another key highlight is the appearance of Hyun-ju (played by Jung Eun-chae), who comes from a completely different background than Yumi. A subtle tension arises between Hyun-ju—who takes what she has for granted and lives honestly and fearlessly—and Yumi, who stands by her side, gazing at a world she herself lacks. Attention is focused on how these two people, who have led such different lives, will influence one another.
Anna’s husband, Ji-hoon (played by Kim Jun-han), is a character with clear goals and strong ambition. While Anna and Ji-hoon appear perfect on the surface, the interplay of their respective desires adds tension to their relationship. Furthermore, the appearance of Ji-won (played by Park Ye-young)—a senior colleague whom Yumi has long trusted—entangles Yumi’s life in various ways, enriching the story even further.
MBC has previously aired Disney+ original series such as *Moving* and *Killers’ Shopping Mall*. Attention is now focused on whether the newly scheduled *Anna* will also resonate with viewers.
“Anna” will premiere on August 23 at 9:00 p.m. and air two episodes consecutively every Sunday for three weeks. Episodes on August 30 and September 6 are scheduled to air at 9:10 p.m.
