[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] “A Day of Copyright Culture with Movies” was held in Busan.

The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) announced on the 13th, “KOFIC, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Copyright Commission held ‘Copyright Culture Day with Movies’ at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan, on the 12th and successfully concluded a screening of ‘OK Madam 2.’”
This event is a collaborative project linking the KOFIC’s “Policy to Revitalize Korean Cinema and Expand Access to Culture in Local Communities” with the Korea Copyright Commission’s “Campaign to Promote a Proper Copyright Culture.” Approximately 300 people participated, including local residents invited in cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan City Social Contribution Information Center and the Haeundae Comprehensive Welfare Center, as well as executives, employees, and their families from the Centum District ESG Council “Eo-Sseug (ESG).”
Prior to the screening, citizen-participation programs were held in the lobby of the Busan Cinema Center. Programs designed for direct public participation included: △ an introduction to the Korean Film Council’s film support programs; △ a true-or-false quiz and a copyright wheel to raise copyright awareness; △ a consultation booth on copyright protection; and △ a free photo booth. Following this, a quiz event was held in the theater to heighten interest in both the film and copyright education.

The film “Okay Madam 2” (directed by Lee Cheol-ha), screened that day, is a comedy-action film about Mi-young—a former legendary agent—and her family, who embark on a luxury cruise only to become entangled in a cruise hijacking incident in the middle of the open sea. Following the first installment, Um Jung-hwa and Park Sung-woong return, while Lee Sang-yoon, Bae Jeong-nam, Park Jin-ju, Ryu Woon, and Choi Soo-young join the cast.
“Okay Madam 2” is a film funded by the Mother Fund’s film account and was selected for the Korean Film Council’s (KOFIC) 2023 Upcoming Film Planning and Development Support Program; its predecessor, “Okay Madam,” was also selected for the same program. The significance of this screening was further enhanced by the fact that “Okay Madam 2”—which was completed with KOFIC’s support from the planning stage—was viewed alongside local residents on the day of its release.
Chairman Han Sang-jun stated, “I hope this event, jointly prepared by the Korean Film Council and the Korea Copyright Commission, served as an opportunity for citizens to create joyful memories at the movie theater and to reflect on the precious value of creative works.” He added, “Going forward, we will strengthen our support for innovative and high-quality Korean films while continuing to make efforts to create a viewing environment where everyone can enjoy film culture without discrimination.”
The Korean Film Council plans to continue its social contribution activities aimed at expanding access to cinema for neighbors who are often left out of cultural benefits, while also providing multifaceted support—from the planning and development stages through distribution and screening—to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean cinema.
