[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] GIGALANE Co., Ltd.(049080), a company specializing in semiconductor etching equipment and radio frequency (RF) technology, announced on the 14th that it has signed a contract with a global electronics company to supply nanoimprint lithography (NIL) equipment for automotive electronics.

The contract is valued at approximately 2.3 billion won, and the contract period is about five months, from July to November of this year. The company plans to use this contract as a key reference demonstrating the applicability of NIL technology in the automotive electronics sector and to expand its related business into the advanced optics and semiconductor fields.

NIL is a technology that uses molds to directly transfer ultra-fine patterns at the nanoscale. According to the company, it enables the creation of ultra-fine patterns while simplifying the process and reducing costs compared to conventional optical lithography processes. Recently, its utility has been growing in advanced optical and semiconductor fields such as metamaterials, micro- and nano-LEDs, and silicon photonics.

GIGALANE Co., Ltd. provides a total solution encompassing equipment, materials, and processes—combining NIL equipment with resin, a core material for nanoimprinting, and process technology. The company explains that this enables process optimization tailored to each customer while achieving the pattern precision and uniformity required in mass production environments.

The company is also applying its proprietary UV-curing-based process technology. Building on this, the company plans to expand its competitiveness in next-generation optical fields, where demand for large-area, high-precision patterning is expected to grow.

Having secured a reference project in the automotive electronics sector through this order, GIGALANE Co., Ltd. plans to expand its supply of NIL-based patterning solutions to areas such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), meta-optics, and next-generation displays.

Meanwhile, starting with the commercialization of nanoimprint equipment for LEDs in 2018, GIGALANE Co., Ltd. commercialized a fully automated imprinter in 2021 and a 12-inch-class large-area fully automated NIL system in 2022. In 2024, the company secured proprietary technology for resin—a core material for nanoimprinting—and expanded its business scope to encompass equipment, materials, and processes.

A GIGALANE Co., Ltd. official stated, “This contract is highly significant as it demonstrates the applicability of our NIL technology in the automotive electronics sector,” adding, “Based on our comprehensive nano-pattern solutions, we will accelerate our expansion of the global customer base in the advanced optics and semiconductor markets.”
