[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] Director Christopher Nolan’s new film, “The Martian,” is dominating the box office, having surpassed 3 million viewers just 10 days after its release.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 14th, “The Martian” recorded a cumulative audience of 3,047,856 as of 6:46 a.m. that day, surpassing 3 million viewers just 10 days after its release.
Following its breakthrough of 1 million viewers on the 8th—its fourth day in theaters—and surpassing 2 million on the 10th—its sixth day—*The Odyssey* has continued its steep upward trajectory by adding another 1 million viewers in just four days.
Notably, this pace is faster than that of this year’s domestic blockbusters such as *The Man Who Lives with the King* (3 million on its 14th day) and *Hope* (3 million on its 11th day), as well as *Zootopia 2* (which topped the 2025 box office and surpassed 3 million on its 11th day).
“The Odyssey” also broke the record for the highest number of advance tickets sold this year, surpassing 1 million tickets in its second week of release. This figure surpasses the 930,000 advance tickets sold on opening day by “Spider-Man: A Brand New Day.”
In particular, the fact that advance ticket sales have remained consistently strong even after the film’s release—surpassing 1 million in its second week—has drawn even more attention, as this pattern was previously seen in all-time blockbusters that surpassed 10 million admissions, such as “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
This record is particularly significant because *The Odyssey* achieved it as it entered its second week of release. Unlike the typical trend where advance ticket sales decline over time after a film’s release, *The Odyssey* is demonstrating an exceptional box office trajectory with explosive growth in advance ticket sales even in its second week.
“The Odyssey” depicts the journey of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the hero who led the Trojan War to victory after a decade-long conflict, as he sets out to return to his wife Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway) and his son Telemachus (played by Tom Holland). The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya Coleman, and Charlize Theron.
