[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] NGeneBio Co., Ltd.(354200), a company specializing in AI (artificial intelligence)-driven precision medicine, has achieved both revenue growth and improved profitability, driven by the success of its core next-generation sequencing (NGS) precision diagnostics business and stable sales in its pharmaceutical distribution division.

NGeneBio Co., Ltd. announced in a regulatory filing on the 14th that its consolidated revenue for the second quarter of this year surged 574% year-over-year (from 1.84814 billion won) to 12.45207 billion won. During the same period, the operating loss stood at 1.18537 billion won, representing a 55.8% improvement compared to the same period last year (2.68322 billion won) and reducing the deficit by more than half.
This improvement in performance was driven by balanced growth, both domestically and internationally, in the company’s core business—the NGS precision diagnostics business. Second-quarter revenue from the diagnostics business reached 1,351,440,000 won, an 80.7% increase compared to the same period last year. By market, domestic revenue rose by 77.2%, while overseas revenue surged by 102.1%, more than doubling.
In particular, the blood cancer diagnostic panel proved to be a key contributor in overseas markets. Overseas revenue from the blood cancer diagnostic panel in the second quarter rose 114% year-over-year. As the company diversified its target regions from the traditional focus on Southeast Asia and Europe to new markets such as South Asia and the Middle East, the revenue share from these new markets surged more than fivefold, rising from 6.1% in the second quarter of last year to 34.6% in the second quarter of this year.
NGeneBio Co., Ltd. plans to accelerate its efforts to improve operational efficiency and expand its business scale in the second half of the year. First, leveraging its official channel partnership agreement with Illumina, a global leader in DNA sequencing, the company will accelerate the supply of its “NGS Total Solution.” By establishing a full-stack business model that integrates high-throughput NGS equipment with existing diagnostic panels and analysis software, the company plans to solidify a stable, recurring revenue structure where consumables continue to be sold following equipment delivery.
The company is also ramping up its AI-driven precision medicine business. It is pushing forward with the commercialization of “NPAS,” an AI-based pathology analysis software currently being enhanced based on LG Corp. AI Research’s “ExaOne Pass 2.0.” Leveraging this technology, the company aims to secure new revenue streams through research collaborations with pharmaceutical companies on new drug development and integrated AI-NGS companion diagnostic businesses.
Its expansion into overseas markets is also expected to gain momentum. NGeneBio Co., Ltd. recently became the first Korean company to obtain European CE-IVDR certification for its breast and ovarian cancer diagnostic panels; the company anticipates that this will accelerate its global expansion into panels for hereditary cancers and solid tumors, building on its existing presence in blood cancers.
Kim Min-sik, CEO of NGeneBio Co., Ltd., emphasized, “The first half of this year was a period in which our NGS precision diagnostics business demonstrated unparalleled competitiveness through balanced growth both domestically and internationally, while simultaneously solidifying our trend toward improved profitability.” He added, “In the second half of the year, we will further strengthen our recurring revenue base centered on NGS total solutions and continue our growth momentum based on AI-driven precision medicine and our overseas achievements.”
