[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] ActRo(290740), a company specializing in camera module components, is set to see a full-fledged rebound in earnings in the second half of the year, driven by the peak smartphone season and the mass production of its new automotive electronics business, despite a temporary delay in earnings in the second quarter due to supply schedule adjustments by major clients.

ActRo announced in a regulatory filing on the 14th that it recorded consolidated revenue of 52.6 billion won, an operating loss of 400 million won, and net income of 1.7 billion won for the second quarter of this year. On a cumulative half-year basis, revenue totaled 101.2 billion won, with an operating loss of 900 million won and net income of 4.2 billion won.
The slight slowdown in second-quarter revenue and operating profit compared to the previous quarter was due to a delay in the supply schedule for folded-zoom actuators—the company’s main revenue source—to global IT companies. However, the company explained that this merely means revenue recognition for the relevant supply volume has been deferred to the third quarter, and there are no disruptions to existing orders or the overall supply plan.
Performance is expected to show a marked improvement in the second half of the year, which is the seasonal peak for the smartphone components market. Led by SamsungElectronics’ new foldable phone, the “Galaxy Z Fold 8”—for which ActRo recently secured exclusive supply rights—the company is expected to significantly increase the adoption rate of its optical image stabilization (OIS) actuators in SamsungElectronics’ next-generation flagship model, scheduled for release in the first half of next year.
New business segments, which serve as future growth engines, are also delivering tangible results. Starting this month, ActRo has begun full-scale mass production of core components for autonomous driving cameras destined for North American automakers. As customer order volumes continue to rise, this segment is expected to play a key role in driving revenue growth and improving profitability in the second half of the year.
An ActRo official emphasized, “Although some orders were deferred to the third quarter due to adjustments in our customers’ supply schedules during the second quarter, our existing business structure remains robust.” The official added, “In the second half of the year, as we enter the peak season for smartphone actuators, the expansion of mass production for autonomous driving components, the supply of new testing equipment, and other new businesses we have been preparing—such as robot components—will begin to translate into tangible revenue.”
