[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] #Sena Technologies Co., Ltd.’s sales in Asia are growing rapidly. In its motorcycle communication equipment business, which had previously been centered on North America and Europe, Shinhung markets such as India and Thailand are emerging as new growth drivers.

According to Sena Technologies Co., Ltd., sales in Asia during the first half of this year increased by approximately 40% compared to the same period last year. In particular, sales in India have risen by about 130% and sales in Thailand by about 60% over the past two years.

This growth in the Asian region has also contributed to the company’s recent expansion in performance. Sena Technologies Co., Ltd. recorded a consolidated operating profit of 18 billion won in the second quarter of this year, a 127.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

Revenue for the same period rose 40.3% to 75.5 billion won, marking the highest quarterly figure in the company’s history.

Sena attributes this growth to changing motorcycle consumption patterns in India and Southeast Asia. The company explains that as motorcycle demand—which was previously centered on daily commuting and other practical uses—has expanded to include leisure, hobbies, and long-distance touring, spending on premium riding gear such as helmets, protective gear, and communication devices is also on the rise.

In fact, sales by global motorcycle manufacturers are also increasing, particularly in Shinhung Asian markets. Yamaha Motor’s motorcycle sales in the first half of this year rose 34% year-over-year in Thailand, 41% in India, and 110% in Vietnam. Consequently, revenue from its motorcycle business increased by 22% to 964.3 billion yen, while operating profit surged 88% to 116.0 billion yen.

Honda also saw its motorcycle sales in Asia rise by approximately 11% in the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, reaching 4,753,000 units compared to 4,284,000 units in the same period last year. Driven by sales growth in India and Brazil, operating profit for the motorcycle business rose 23.8% to 233.9 billion yen.

Sena is focusing not only on the growth in motorcycle sales but also on the spread of group riding and touring culture. This is because the more riders travel together, the greater the need to share travel routes and road conditions in real time.

Based on its proprietary “Mesh Intercom” technology, the company provides products that allow multiple riders to connect as a group and communicate while riding. It expects the communications device market to grow in tandem as demand for recreational motorcycles and consumption of premium equipment increase in the Asian region.

A Sena Technologies Co., Ltd. official stated, “In major Asian markets such as India and Thailand, motorcycles are rapidly evolving from mere means of daily transportation into a realm of leisure and hobbies.” The official added, “As consumption of group riding and premium equipment increases, demand for Sena products is growing alongside it, and we expect the Asian market to establish itself as a new growth engine for the motorcycle business.”
