[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] Actress Lee Se-young transforms into an unsung independence activist, continuing her meaningful activities on Liberation Day.

“Gwan-soon Dong-soon,” airing on KBS1 on the 15th, is a KBS special documentary that sheds new light on the independence movement activities of Yu Gwan-soon and her friend, Ms. Nam Dong-soon—who suffered imprisonment at Seodaemun Prison after shouting “Manse” together during the March 1st Movement. It was produced to mark the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day. Lee Se-young is set to enhance the documentary’s immersive quality by personally reenacting the past of Ms. Nam Dong-soon, a “unrecorded independence activist” and childhood friend of martyr Yu Gwan-sun.

Last year, Lee Se-young also participated as the narrator for KBS’s 80th Anniversary of Liberation special project, “The Land of Manhae,” where she followed in the footsteps of Manhae Han Yong-un and recited his poetry to help viewers better understand the program. As a result, attention is once again focused on Lee Se-young’s meaningful activities, through which she consistently spreads a positive influence.
The production team commented on Lee Se-young, saying, “Despite the tight filming schedule, she fully understood the character Dong-soon before arriving on set,” adding, “Since this is a character brought back to life through testimonies, she approached the role with extra care, delivering a solid performance without exaggeration.”
“Gwan-soon, Dong-soon” premiered on the morning of the 15th at 9:00 a.m. on domestic online video services (OTT) and will air at 1:00 p.m. on KBS1’s “Network Project.”
