[Edaily Reporter Kang Min-koo ] Private space launch vehicle company INNOSPACE Co., Ltd.(462350)completed the final dress rehearsal (WDR) for its multipurpose suborbital rocket “SEBIT” on the 14th (local time in Brazil) at its own platform within the Alcântara Space Center, operated by the Brazilian Air Force, and has begun the launch countdown for its first test flight.

The WDR is the final preparatory stage before launch, involving a comprehensive check of propellant loading, the launch control system, ground facilities, the launch vehicle, and safety procedures, all following the exact same procedures as on launch day. On this day, INNOSPACE Co., Ltd. completed its final preparations for the first test flight by successfully executing the coordinated operation between the launch vehicle and ground systems, as well as the launch procedures, according to plan.

The target launch date and time are 3:45 p.m. on the 19th (local time in Brazil; 3:45 a.m. on the 20th, Korea Standard Time). The launch window spans 10 days, from the 19th to the 28th.

Through this test flight, INNOSPACE Co., Ltd. aims to verify engine performance, flight characteristics, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), flight safety, and ground operation systems, with the goal of securing key flight data to provide suborbital test and verification services based on reliability and stability in the future.

Kim Su-jong, CEO of INNOSPACE Co., Ltd., “With the completion of the final pre-launch rehearsal, we have finalized all preparations for the first test flight of ‘Sebit,’ the multipurpose suborbital rocket independently developed by INNOSPACE Co., Ltd.,” he said. “Since the process of enhancing reliability through repeated flights is crucial, we will gradually develop a mission-oriented business model for suborbital test and verification services based on the data and operational experience gained from this first test flight.”

Meanwhile, unlike launch vehicles that place satellites into Earth orbit, “Sebit” is a multipurpose suborbital rocket developed to transport customers’ payloads to altitudes of 100 km or less, enabling technology testing, verification, and scientific research missions in a high-altitude, microgravity environment.

Through this, INNOSPACE Co., Ltd. plans to target the suborbital testing and verification services market, supporting research and development as well as technology demonstration across various industries, including space, defense, biotechnology and healthcare, and new materials.
