[Edaily Reporter Kim Kyung-eun ] Shares of companies involved in inter-Korean economic cooperation are on the rise following reports that U.S. President Donald Trump is pursuing plans to hold a summit with North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un as early as this fall.

These inter-Korean economic cooperation-related stocks are drawing attention following a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) that President Trump has instructed his aides to explore holding a summit with Chairman Kim Jong-un.

According to the WSJ on the 18th (local time), President Trump held private discussions with officials regarding plans to arrange a face-to-face meeting with Chairman Kim.

It is reported that they discussed the possibility of meeting Chairman Kim in person during President Trump’s upcoming Asian tour to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Shenzhen, China, this November.

It is reported that President Trump intends to resume stalled U.S.-North Korea dialogue through a summit with Chairman Kim. However, official preparations for the summit have not yet begun.
