(Photo courtesy of OA Entertainment)On the 18th, Jennie’s agency, OA Entertainment, issued a statement saying, “We have been continuously monitoring instances where photos and videos of Jennie are being maliciously edited or altered, or posted and distributed in ways that infringe upon her privacy and personal rights, primarily on online communities and social media platforms.” The agency continued, “We take these violations of our artist’s rights very seriously,” adding, “We are working with specialized legal counsel to continue monitoring relevant posts and accounts and gathering evidence, while also pursuing civil and criminal legal action against cases of serious infringement.” Recently, controversy erupted online after a video went viral showing a scene where Jennie’s outfit appeared to slip while she was dancing on stage at the Japanese music festival “Summer Sonic,” seemingly exposing part of her body. In response, some observers raised the possibility that the video had been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. OA Entertainment stated, “We plan to actively take necessary legal measures, depending on the nature and severity of the case, against acts such as maliciously editing or altering an artist’s physical appearance, repeatedly posting, reposting, or distributing specific scenes from photos or videos, or posting and distributing content that includes insulting language or false information.” The agency further emphasized, “We clearly state that there will be no compromise or leniency whatsoever in this process.”
