BIONEER CORPORATION posted consolidated revenue of approximately 96.1 billion won in the second quarter of this year. This represents an 8.9% increase year-over-year and marks the company’s highest quarterly revenue on record. Cumulative revenue for the first half of the year totaled approximately 177.9 billion won.
Operating profit also returned to the black. While BIONEER CORPORATION posted an operating loss of approximately 500 million won in the first quarter, it successfully turned a profit in the second quarter. BIONEER CORPORATION explained that the improved profitability resulted from economies of scale driven by revenue growth, rather than cost-cutting measures.
In particular, BIONEER CORPORATION expanded its investment in new drug research and development (R&D) alongside the improvement in profitability. BIONEER CORPORATION increased its new drug R&D expenses by approximately 1.4 billion won in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter, focusing its investment on accumulating relevant data and advancing development as Phase 1b clinical trials for its core new drug pipeline progressed.
Its subsidiary, AceBiome, also continued to invest in expanding its product sales channels and customer base. BIONEER CORPORATION plans to strengthen its foundation for mid- to long-term growth by simultaneously pursuing revenue growth and improved profitability.
