[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyung-il ] Nutri, a company specializing in health functional foods ( Newtree Co., Ltd.(270870)), announced on the 19th that it has launched “Dr.UN Plant-Based Omega-3” under its total healthcare brand “Dr.UN.”

“Dr.UN Plant-Based Omega-3” is a revamped version of “Natural TG Plant-Based Omega-3,” which was previously sold under the Newtree Co., Ltd. brand, and its key nutritional components remain the same as before.

The product uses omega-3 ingredients extracted from microalgae, which are at the bottom of the marine food chain. Newtree Co., Ltd. explained that using microalgae as a raw material reduces concerns about marine pollution and heavy metal accumulation compared to omega-3 products derived from fish and other marine organisms.

Additionally, the product utilizes omega-3 in the form of triglycerides (TG), with a TG content of 95%. One capsule per day provides 600 mg of EPA and DHA, blended in a 3:8 ratio.

EPA and DHA are the primary fatty acids in omega-3; based on the functional claims recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, they can help improve blood circulation, reduce blood triglycerides, and alleviate dry eyes.

The product uses plant-based ingredients and plant-based capsules, and features PTP individual packaging—where each capsule is packaged separately—to enhance portability and hygiene.

A representative of Newtree Co., Ltd. stated, “Unlike typical plant-based omega-3 products, which are often formulated with a focus on DHA, our product’s unique selling point is that it contains both EPA and DHA,” adding, “This will expand the options available to consumers who wish to take both ingredients together.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Eon Plant-Based Omega-3 is available through online channels such as Newtree Co., Ltd. and Naver, and the company plans to expand its distribution network to offline retailers, including warehouse-style pharmacies and supermarkets, in the future.
