[Edaily Reporter Yun Junghoon ] KT (KTCorporation(030200)) announced on the 19th that it has launched a Sovereign AI Appliance (a turnkey device combining hardware and software) for enterprises that integrates domestically developed AI semiconductors and a domestic language model (LLM) into a single server.

The “KT NPU LLM Station” unveiled by KTCorporation is an all-in-one product that integrates the “ATOM-MAX” NPU from domestic AI semiconductor company Rebellion, KTCorporation’s proprietary LLM “Mideum K 2.5 Pro,” and an operational API platform.

ATOM-MAX is a domestically developed NPU specialized for inference, and its superior processing performance and power efficiency compared to GPUs of the same class have been verified through certified testing. “Mideum K 2.5 Pro” is KTCorporation’s proprietary model, which excels at high-complexity inference and agent utilization.

By integrating core technologies—ranging from AI semiconductors to models and operational platforms—using domestically developed technology, the product enables businesses to directly implement the government’s “Sovereign AI” policy in their operations.

Its most notable feature is robust security. The product is installed on-premises at the customer’s facility, and all data and AI computations are processed exclusively within the company’s network. It is expected to serve as a catalyst for the AI transformation (AX) in regulated industries—such as public sector, defense, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and finance—which have been unable to adopt overseas generative AI due to regulations like network segmentation and the need for strong security.

The burden of adoption has also been reduced. As a turnkey device that integrates a server, AI model, and platform, AI features—such as document-based question-answering (RAG)—can be used immediately from the day of installation without any separate setup process. By adopting an inference-optimized NPU, it offers higher power efficiency compared to GPU servers of the same class. Additionally, it provides industry-standard APIs, allowing companies to use it seamlessly without modifying their code—simply by updating the connection information for their existing AI services.

KTCorporation plans to sequentially integrate Agent AI developed in-house—such as meeting minute generation, coding assistance, and the business automation agent “K-Claw” (tentative name)—and expand into customized deployment projects by collaborating with specialized Agent AI development firms.

KTCorporation also plans to expand the application scope of the “KTCorporation NPU LLM Station” to edge data centers (Edge DC) for physical AI, thereby working to implement low-power, low-latency AI infrastructure.

Lee Jin-hyung, Senior Vice President and Head of KTCorporation’s AX Business Division, stated, “The KTCorporation NPU LLM Station combines KTCorporation’s full-stack AX capabilities with domestically produced semiconductors to enable the immediate use of sovereign AI in real-world industrial settings,” adding, “It will be the most practical option for companies and institutions seeking to begin their AI transformation while safeguarding data sovereignty.”

Meanwhile, KTCorporation also plans to contribute to the implementation of sovereign AI and the strengthening of the domestic AI ecosystem’s competitiveness by utilizing domestically produced NPUs in the Ministry of Science and ICT’s “AI for All” project.
