[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] It was revealed that approximately six out of every 10 KOSDAQ-listed companies posted a profit in the first half of this year. The proportion of companies reporting a profit on a consolidated basis rose by more than 9 percentage points (p) compared to the same period last year.

According to the “2026 First-Half Financial Results for KOSDAQ Companies with a December Fiscal Year-End” released by the Korea Exchange on the 19th, 800 of the 1,264 companies analyzed on a consolidated basis posted a net profit. This represents 63.29% of the total. This represents an increase of 121 companies (9.57 percentage points) compared to the 679 companies in the same period of the previous year.
Of these, 572 companies (45.25%) remained profitable, while 228 companies (18.04%) turned a profit. In contrast, 464 companies (36.71%) reported a loss. Of these, 357 companies (28.24%) continued to operate at a loss, while 107 companies (8.47%) shifted to a loss.
Looking at the details, among the 228 companies that turned a profit, PearlAbyss Corp.(263750)showed the greatest improvement in performance. PearlAbyss Corp. posted 257.5 billion won in the first half of this year, an increase of approximately 279.7 billion won compared to the first half of last year (-22.2 billion won).
Following Pearl Abyss, other companies that returned to profitability included SIMMTECH Co., Ltd.(222800)(59.4 billion won), #Orum Therapeutics, Inc. (48.1 billion won), AP Healthcare(109960)(42.9 billion won), COSMAX NBT, INC.(222040)(39.4 billion won), Humax Holdings Co., Ltd(028080)(37.2 billion won), HUMAX CO., LTD.(115160)(36.5 billion won), OSCOTEC Inc.(039200)(35.8 billion won), YAS Co., Ltd(255440)(34.0 billion won), and WORLDEX INDUSTRY & TRADING CO., LTD(101160)(33.0 billion won).
Conversely, among the 107 companies that slipped into the red, WINIX INC.(044340)saw the sharpest decline in performance. WINIX INC. went from a net profit of 45.2 billion won in the first half of last year to a net loss of 79.6 billion won in the first half of this year.
In addition, PonyLink(064800)(-50.6 billion won), Enchem Co., Ltd.(348370)(-39.2 billion won), SEKONIX CO., LTD.(053450)(34.3 billion won), Devsisters corporation(194480)(-30.0 billion won), ABL Bio Inc.(298380)(-29.7 billion won), Hantop Inc.(002680)(-29.6 billion won), SUNIC SYSTEM Co., Ltd.(171090)(-27.6 billion won), and Binex Co., Ltd.(053030)(-24.6 billion won) all shifted to losses.
Meanwhile, on an individual basis, 64.52% (1,024 companies) of the 1,587 companies analyzed posted a net profit. 724 companies (45.62%) maintained profitability, while 300 companies (18.90%) returned to profitability. 563 companies (35.48%) posted a net loss. Of these, 431 companies (27.16%) continued to post losses, while 132 companies (8.32%) shifted to a loss.
