[E-Daily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd.(078600)is expanding its scope of cooperation with a North American aerospace company to include silicon anode materials and carbon nanotube (CNT) conductive materials, following its collaboration on solar cell pastes.

According to industry sources on the 21st, Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. is the only solar cell paste manufacturer to have been invited to the aerospace company’s plant in Texas, where it held working-level discussions regarding commercial supply. It is reported that the company received the client’s mass production roadmap and has begun preparations for supply.

Following a site visit by its research and development (R&D) team, the company supplied a quantity of paste sufficient to manufacture and test approximately 100,000 solar cells. With the client’s mass production imminent, material verification and supply negotiations are now entering a concrete phase.

The company is constructing two factory buildings in Texas, each capable of producing 10 GW of solar cells, and plans to begin installing equipment this coming September. The goal is to begin mass production in early Q1 of next year. It is reported that the company plans to use the Texas plant as a “Mother Factory” to stabilize processes and yield rates, with the aim of expanding solar cell generation capacity to over 100 GW by 2030.

The scope of collaboration is also expanding to include materials for rechargeable batteries. Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. recently shipped samples of silicon anode materials for use in backup power batteries for space data centers and has begun development collaboration.

As the client is pursuing a plan to incorporate 20–30% silicon anode material, Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. is also supplying single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) as conductive fillers. SWCNTs are a material that enhances conductivity while mitigating the expansion issues associated with silicon anodes. Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. is supplying samples of silicon anode material and SWCNTs in a packaged form.

Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. has been mass-producing and supplying silicon anode materials for the Porsche Taycan since 2020, and since late last year, it has also been supplying related materials to North American EV manufacturers through Panasonic. Based on its existing mass-production experience, the company plans to expand its supply into the aerospace sector as well.

The supply chain environment is also favorable. With the announcement of the U.S. “Super 301” measures, Chinese-made materials have lost their price competitiveness. Furthermore, it is reported that this aerospace company has decided to exclude Taiwanese-made paste due to geopolitical risks, significantly increasing Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd.’s chances of becoming the main vendor.

An official from Daejoo Electronic Materials Co., Ltd. stated, “Paste, silicon anode materials, and CNT conductive materials are not separate businesses but rather materials that are interlinked within our customers’ next-generation roadmaps,” adding, “We are steadily preparing to supply each material in accordance with our customers’ mass production schedules, and we will repay their trust with proven mass production quality.”
