[E-Daily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] The group RIIZE has taken a significant first step into the U.S. radio market. The global buzz they’ve built through short-form content and performances has led to actual radio airplay, allowing them to expand their reach into the North American mainstream market.

According to their agency, SM Entertainment, on the 21st, the title track “Do Your Dance” from RIIZE’s second mini-album debuted at No. 40 on the “Top 40 Radio Chart” released by MediaBase. This result is based on broadcast data from major U.S. radio stations collected from the 9th to the 15th.
The MediaBase Top 40 chart ranks songs based on how frequently they were played on major U.S. radio stations. Unlike streaming or fandom-driven album sales, it serves as one of the indicators for gauging local popularity, as it reflects the breadth of exposure to radio listeners.
In particular, “Do You Dance” was played on approximately 130 radio stations during the tracking period and was listed as the most-played K-pop single on channels including “Most Requested Live” and “iHeart KPOP.”
This achievement is significant for RISE because the engagement of their global fandom has expanded to include exposure in local U.S. media. Until now, K-pop’s international success has often been measured primarily by album sales, streaming numbers, and social media reactions. In contrast, the radio market is considered relatively challenging because it relies heavily on local programming schedules and engagement with the general listening public, making it difficult to achieve short-term success based solely on fanbase support.

“Do Your Dance” is a dance track that prominently showcases RISE’s free-spirited energy and confidence. Its strengths lie in the signature choreography—synchronized to the intuitive lyrics “Head, hips, shoulders, toes”—and the performance of the six members. In addition to the music itself, the fact that the choreography and scenes—which are perfect for quick consumption—spread rapidly through short-form platforms also contributed to its popularity.
In fact, the cumulative views of related TikTok content have surpassed 100 million. When the album was released last June, it also garnered attention from international music and culture media outlets such as Billboard, Genius, V Magazine, and The Clash. This created a cycle where the buzz generated on short-form platforms led to media coverage and radio airplay.
This is also noteworthy because it shows that RISE’s global strategy goes beyond simply expanding their fanbase. The group attracts attention on short-form video platforms through their performances and, by repeatedly exposing their music, gains entry into local radio stations. This can be seen as a sign that K-pop is gradually securing the “touchpoints outside the fanbase” necessary to broaden its appeal in the U.S. market.
RISE is set to expand its reach with the release of its third Japanese single, “Sunburst,” on the 26th. Following their first entry into the U.S. radio charts, the release of this new Japanese single signals that the group’s global push—targeting both North America and Japan simultaneously—is gaining momentum.
