CJ ENM, the distributor of the film “Paradise Lost,” announced on the 24th, “Director Yeon Sang-ho is scheduled to take the stage alongside world-renowned master director Hirokazu Kore-eda at 4:00 p.m. on September 14 (local time) for a special discussion.”
Director Yeon Sang-ho has been invited to the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, taking place next month, with his film “Paradise Lost.” Director Yeon will participate in the official industry program “TIFF Summit: Dialogues.”
“TIFF Summit: Dialogues” is part of the Toronto International Film Festival’s industry program presented during the festival. It is a series of discussions where creators and professionals leading the global film and content industry—including directors, writers, actors, and producers—gather to engage in in-depth conversations about storytelling, the art of filmmaking, and the creative process.
This session is generating significant anticipation as it brings together two storytellers—Director Yeon Sang-ho and Director Hirokazu Kore-eda—who have captivated audiences worldwide with their unique worldviews.
During the discussion, Director Yeon Sang-ho is scheduled to discuss his unique worldview and genre-bending imagination, the creative process of filmmaking, as well as the adaptation and expansion of intellectual property (IP) and the continued global expansion of Asian cinema.
Earlier this year, Director Yeon Sang-ho was officially invited to the Midnight Screenings section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival for his film *The Swarm* in the first half of the year. In the second half, his new film *Paradise Lost* was selected for the Special Presentations section at the Toronto International Film Festival for the second consecutive year, setting a record by appearing at both of the world’s two major film festivals in a single year.
In particular, with the world premiere of *Paradise Lost* scheduled to take place at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, coupled with a discussion with director Hirokazu Kore-eda, attention from film fans both in Korea and abroad is focused on Director Yeon Sang-ho’s activities in Toronto.
Set for release this October, “Lost Paradise” is a psychological thriller that begins when Ryu Seon-woo—whom his mother, Ryu So-young, had believed to be dead after he went missing in a camping school bus incident nine years ago—miraculously returns alive. The film stars Kim Hyun-joo and Bae Hyun-sung, both of whom will attend the Toronto International Film Festival alongside Director Yeon.
