On the 24th, Song Ji-eun’s social media accounts were flooded with comments such as “You need to keep your husband in check,” “As a Secret fan, this is heartbreaking,” and “Say something.”
Recently, her husband, Park Wi, released closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of a fall that occurred while he was getting off a KTX train and criticized the alternative service worker who had helped him at the time, drawing criticism; the backlash has now spread to his wife, Song Ji-eun.
On the 21st, Park Wi released CCTV footage of the incident via his YouTube channel, “Wi-Racle,” stating, “It was a hair-raising situation. It wasn’t done intentionally, but the mere act of placing his foot on the ramp made me angry.”
The footage released by Park Wi shows him falling after the wheel of his wheelchair got caught on the foot of a social service worker who was assisting him as he descended the ramp. As he fell, Park Wi braced himself with his arm, preventing his head from hitting the ground first.
After the video was released, some critics pointed out that it was inappropriate to publicize the mistake made by the social service worker—who had already apologized—as it directed criticism toward a specific individual.
As the controversy grew, Park Wi deleted the video and apologized, saying, “I’m sorry for disappointing so many people.” He added, “I viewed the mistake that occurred while trying to help me in a purely negative light. My communication was immature, and I was short-sighted. I will take your advice to heart and approach content creation with a more mature attitude.” However, despite this apology, the controversy shows no signs of subsiding.
Meanwhile, Park Wi was diagnosed with quadriplegia following a fall in 2014. Since then, he has been active as a YouTuber, sharing his journey of regaining mobility through rehabilitation exercises. Park Wi married Song Ji-eun, a former member of the girl group Secret, in 2024.
