"I Want to Make a Name for Myself with 'Tuid' and Win the Rookie of the Year Award"
[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] “I really want to win the Rookie of the Year award!” The rookie group Tuid has made its debut in the music industry, showcasing its unique musical style known as “Soul-Tronic” (a blend of soul and electronic music). The group aims to create harmony while highlighting the distinct personalities of its seven members. TUIED (Photo = ABD) At the media showcase for their first mini-album, “TUNE & PLAY,” held on the 24th at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Tuid stated, “Through our debut, we want to make the name ‘Tuid’ known to as many people as possible, and we hope to hear that people are looking forward to our next music.” Tweed is a seven-member group consisting of Se-ah, Elena, Seo-yeon, Jia, Seo-hee, Saki, and Lee Ha-nyu. Se-ah said, “I’m incredibly excited to finally make the debut I’ve always dreamed of,” adding, “I want to captivate the public’s eyes and ears with our energetic performances.” Elena, who is from the U.S., said, “I’ve dreamed of becoming a singer since I was little. As a member of Tuid, I’ll show you my groovy vocals.” Jia, known as the younger sister of TWICE’s Jihyo, introduced herself by saying, “My strengths on stage are my intense gaze and expressive performance, but off stage, I have a bright, puppy-like charm.” She went on to share that Ji-hyo had advised her, “Since the members are the people you spend more time with than your own family, I hope you’ll support one another and carry out your activities beautifully.” Saki, who is from Japan, also expressed her overwhelming emotions, saying, “It’s been my dream since I was a child to debut in Korea.” TUID’s musical identity is “Soul-Tronic,” a style that combines the warm sensibility of soul with the sophisticated sound of electronic music. Seo-hee explained, “It perfectly embodies TUID in that we can flexibly blend different genres and capture the individuality of all seven members within a single piece of music.” Saki added, “The appeal lies in blending our vocals and timbres with groovy beats and melodies.” The title track, “Sun Kiss,” also focuses on showcasing the seven members’ individuality. Jia introduced the song, saying, “We captured the pleasant energy and sense of freedom felt under the sparkling sunlight through the voices of all seven of us.” Seo-yeon described the performance, noting, “It features movements that look like the seven of us are freely running around in the sunshine, along with groovy moves that highlight each member’s unique charm.” The producer duo Groovy Room also contributed to this album. Seo-hee revealed, “Since each member has a different vocal tone and unique characteristics, we were told to express ourselves naturally as we are, rather than trying to create something new.” Tweed (Photo: ABD) Han Seong-soo of Master Professional (MP), who oversaw the album’s production, emphasized attitude and mindset. Seo-hee said, “He advised us to do our best and always be grateful to everyone who helped us during the preparation process.” Elena added, “His advice to find joy even in the practice process really left an impression on me.” TUID cited “joy” and “vibrant” as the keywords that best describe them. Seo-hee explained, “All seven of us have distinct and vivid personalities. Rather than forcing us to conform to a single mold, we want to showcase our individuality while presenting a harmonious whole.” They haven’t chosen any specific role models either. They emphasized, “While there are many great senior artists, our goal is to create a style unique to Tuid.” Their goal is to firmly establish their name in the public’s mind. Jia said, “We hope many people will remember the name TUID, and we want to receive a lot of love and positive reviews so we can definitely win a Rookie Award.” Se-ah also shared her aspirations, saying, “After seeing our music and performances, I want to hear people say, ‘I’m looking forward to your next release.’” TUID’s first mini-album, “Tune & Play,” will be released today at 6 p.m.
