Just like the protagonist who forms a band with ghosts to stand on the Stage of Dreams, musicians who have been making music in their own ways took the stage. For some, it was their first experience singing in front of a large audience; for others, it was an opportunity to reaffirm their reason for continuing to make music.

The “Ghost Band X Idles – We Are Ghost Band, Too” concert took place at Idles in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The performance, which lasted about an hour and a half, featured In-taek—who plays the role of Ann Ho in the series—followed by the office worker bands AreYou and Lumen Time, indie artists mool and dudebs, and the band V01D, who took the stage one after another.
This concert served as an extension of the story from the animated series “Ghost Band” onto a real-life stage. “Ghost Band” tells the story of Mita, who forms a band with ghosts to perform on the stage of her dreams, as she forges her own path toward that stage.
The concert also began with the premise of finding a band capable of creating “a dream stage that only we can create.” Teams were selected to perform on stage based on submitted singing and instrumental videos, and the office worker bands ALU and Lumen Time—who emerged victorious from a field of dozens of competitors—took center stage.
“R.U.” performed three original songs, while “Lumen Time” delivered passionate renditions of three songs, including Han Ro-ro’s “First Day of Spring.” The sight of these performers stepping onto the stage—escaping the daily grind of their office jobs—naturally overlapped with the journey of Mita, the character in the drama who is striving toward her musical dreams. Next, indie artists whose albums are distributed through Music & New took the stage. The performance gained added significance not only because NEW, which distributes “Ghost Band,” and Music & New are affiliated companies but also because these artists took the stage to share their music with a wider audience.

◇“A Day of Gratitude”…Taking the Stage with Their Own Stories
The band Mul performed a total of four songs, starting with “You and Me” and followed by “Blue Spring Day,” “The Words ‘I Like You,’” and “Secret Language.” They captivated the audience by sharing their personal stories through simple music and honest lyrics.
For Mul, this performance was a special experience. “This is the first time I’ve sung in front of such a large audience,” he said. “I’ve always wanted the opportunity to share my songs with many people. Performing today made me even more excited, and it made me want to share my music with even more people and be loved by them in the future.”
Singing was also a process of self-discovery for Mul. “Rather than writing songs with a specific intention, I have things I want to say that build up inside me, and when I let them out, a song is born,” she explained. “Once the song is finished, I actually realize what emotions I was feeling.”
She continued, “Although the song began as my own story, I hope it resonates with many people,” adding, “Don’t we find comfort in knowing that others feel the same emotions—like loneliness or solitude? Just as speaking about my own feelings helps lighten my burden, I hope I can help lighten the burdens of others as well.”
DuDeps performed “Despite Everything” and “Not Easy” alongside guitarist Nam Dae-woo. His story—of starting music late but steadily forging his own path—resonated with the concert’s theme of a “dream stage.”
DuDeps said, “I entered college late and started music late, so I used to wonder, ‘Why did it take me so long?’” but added, “Because I love music so much, I was able to stand on a stage like this, and that’s what keeps me going.” He continued, “I believe that if you keep at it, you’ll achieve good results. With that in mind, I spent a day filled with gratitude.”
He also revealed his musical direction, stating that he does not want to confine himself to a specific genre. DuDeps said, “I want to create songs that are accessible and resonate with many people,” adding, “If I limit myself to a specific genre, I feel like I’m tying my own hands. I want to freely explore various genres, including house music.”
Guitarist Nam Dae-woo, who performed with him, shared his thoughts, saying, “Instrumentalists usually spend a lot of time in the studio, but deep down, there’s also a desire to show themselves to the world.” He continued, “I was delighted and happy to have this wonderful opportunity to perform on stage.”

◇A Scorching Finale… The Real-Life ‘Ghost Band’ Comes to Life
VOID closed out the show. Following performances of “Rock Rock” and “The One,” VOID took the stage with a cover of The Rose’s “Back to Me,” bringing the venue’s energy to a fever pitch.
While the previous acts had each told their own stories through music, Boyd got the audience on their feet with their intense band sound and explosive stage presence. The audience responded by singing along to the choruses and waving their hands. As the concert neared its end, the boundary between the stage and the audience naturally dissolved.
As they wrapped up their set, Boyd announced, “The band-themed animated film ‘Ghost Band’ is set to hit theaters,” adding, “We plan to go see it soon ourselves. Please look forward to it.”
With Boyd’s performance, the approximately 90-minute concert came to a close. Until the very last song ended, the audience waved their hands, sang along, and moved in unison with the bands. Although each band that took the stage had a distinct musical style, the moment they shared their music with the audience was filled with the same passion.
The concert that day was more than just a series of bands taking the stage one after another. From ALU and Lumen Time—who balance their day jobs with music and made it to the stage through an open call—to Mul, who wants to share their story with a wider audience, and DuDeps, who have been steadily pursuing music despite starting late, each had their own “reason for taking the stage.”
Their stories naturally resonated with Mita from *Ghost Band*. Just as Mita in the film forms a band with ghosts to stand on her dream stage and moves forward, those who took the stage that day were also creating their own stages without letting go of music in their daily lives. This was the moment when the show’s title, “We Are Ghost Band,” took on real meaning.
“Ghost Band” is a purely Korean-produced original animated film that tells the story of “Mita,” a singer-songwriter who can see spirits, as she forms a band with four unique ghosts and sets out toward the stage. It will have an exclusive release at Lotte Cinema on the 26th.
