On the 26th, Disney+ announced the release schedule for “The Remarried Empress.” “The Remarried Empress” is a romantic fantasy drama about Na Bi-e (Shin Min-a), the perfect empress of the Dongdae Empire, who receives a divorce notice from Emperor Sobiesh (Joo Ji-hoon)—who has fallen for the runaway slave Rasta (Lee Se-young). Instead of accepting the divorce, she demands permission to remarry Prince Ha-in-ri (Lee Jong-suk) of the Seo Kingdom. The original webtoon of the same name is a popular Naver series that has recorded a cumulative total of 2.6 billion views worldwide. There is high anticipation—not only among fans of the original work but also within the industry—to see how “The Remarried Empress” will expand its universe and bring it to life as a live-action adaptation based on this popular intellectual property (IP).
The teaser trailer, released alongside the premiere date, opens with a panoramic view of the powerful Dongdae Empire. It shows Empress Nabie sitting majestically with her back to a beautiful light, followed by Sobiesh swearing, “No matter what happens, you are my only wife,” illustrating the couple’s once-perfect relationship. However, when Rasta appears before Sobiesh, cracks begin to form in their once-solid bond. The story unfolds with Sobiésh falling for Rasta, Rasta unabashedly savoring her sudden happiness, and Nabie struggling to keep her composure as she watches the two of them—all foreshadowing a royal scandal that will spiral out of control.
The story enters a new phase with the arrival of Heinrich, the prince of the Western Kingdom. As Heinrich reaches out to comfort Nabie, Sobiesh reveals his jealousy and anger upon seeing the two grow closer. The relationships between the four, now at odds with one another, reach a fever pitch, and Sobiesh finally informs Nabie of their divorce. Yet, even in the face of this shocking betrayal, Nabie remains unshaken; she accepts the divorce while simultaneously demanding approval for a remarriage, causing a massive upheaval in the Eastern Empire.

The character posters released alongside the trailer capture the charm of each character. Shin Min-a, who plays Navie, commands attention with her elegant and dignified presence as the Empress. The caption, “I demand approval for remarriage,” reveals Navie’s resolve as she remains unshaken by the sudden divorce notice and chooses her own destiny. Expectations are high for her performance as she forges a new destiny with the dignity of a perfect Empress and her independent choices.
Joo Ji-hoon, who plays Sobiesz, exudes the presence of an emperor wielding absolute power with an intense gaze as he sits on the throne, seemingly surveying everything below. The tagline, “I must divorce the Empress,” hints at the transformation of Sobiesz, who has suddenly notified Navie—the woman he promised to spend his life with—of their divorce. It raises curiosity about what the emperor, who has everything, will lose as a result of his own choice.
Lee Jong-suk, who plays Haeinri, captures the mysterious and captivating aura of a prince in a fleeting moment as he appears about to kiss someone’s hand. The line, “It is an honor to meet you, my queen,” and Haeinri’s appearance before Nabie signal the beginning of a new relationship, heightening curiosity.
Lee Se-young, who plays Rasta, is beaming with a bright smile, fully showcasing her vibrant energy and dazzling beauty. The tagline, “Rasta is so happy these days!” highlights Rasta’s current situation—having escaped from slavery to become the Emperor’s favorite and enjoy a dreamlike happiness. Attention is focused on just how far Rasta’s ambitions will take her after her sudden rise in status.
“The Remarried Empress” premieres November 4 exclusively on Disney+.
