[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] AI (Artificial Intelligence) video technology company FOCUS HNS(331380)is partnering with the Korea Fire Insurance Association (hereinafter referred to as the “Association”) to expand its AI-based disaster safety business. FOCUS AI announced on the 26th that it had signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Certification and Institutionalization of an Integrated Disaster Monitoring Solution” with the Association. The company intends to verify the technology’s reliability and risk management effectiveness through field demonstrations and, based on the accumulated data, explore future integration with insurance systems. FOCUS AI’s integrated disaster monitoring AI solution utilizes AI-powered CCTV to detect fire signs—such as flames and smoke—as well as risk factors in industrial sites in real time. Unlike conventional CCTV systems focused solely on surveillance, this solution is characterized by AI’s ability to independently analyze video data to detect early warning signs of fires and abnormal situations. Furthermore, it is evolving into an intelligent safety management platform by incorporating features such as the detection of subtle changes in facilities, abnormal behavior, and integration with multi-environmental sensors for temperature and gas monitoring. Under the agreement, the two companies will proceed in stages to: △ ensure technological reliability through FILK certification and proof-of-concept (PoC) testing; △ advance the technology through public-private joint R&D for commercialization; and △ plan large-scale demonstration projects targeting local governments and industrial complexes. In particular, they plan to expand the solution’s application by utilizing collaborative sites, seminars, and training programs. Initially, they will conduct demonstrations at actual high-risk sites, such as apartment complex parking lots and logistics centers, and collect validation data from land, maritime, and vessel sectors using testbeds linked to the FILK headquarters and regional research institutes. This data will be used to refine AI models, and following an analysis of the effectiveness in reducing fire risks, they will explore the possibility of linking the system to fire insurance premium structures. Subsequently, the company plans to broaden the scope of application through public-private joint technology commercialization R&D and expand into large-scale demonstration projects at the local government and industrial complex levels to increase the on-site application of AI vision technology. The strategy is to build a solid foundation for practical market application by broadening the scope of cooperation—from certification and demonstration to data analysis, integration with insurance systems, and follow-up R&D. Given that examples of collaboration between AI video technology and the insurance industry are rare in Korea, FOCUS AI plans to use this partnership as an opportunity to advance its business by developing an integrated risk management model capable of predicting and diagnosing abnormal signs in advance.
