[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] ICH Co., Ltd.(368600), a company specializing in advanced electronic materials, announced on the 26th that it has begun mass-producing and supplying high-performance polyurethane (PU) foam materials for humanoid robots developed by a global electric vehicle manufacturer. The company is embarking on a full-scale diversification of its portfolio, expanding from mobile device materials to humanoid robot materials. The high-performance PU foam, whose supply has now begun, is installed in the joints of humanoid robots, such as the fingers and wrists. It is designed to enhance shock and vibration absorption, resistance to repeated compression, and long-term durability—all tailored to the robotic environment characterized by continuous operation, impacts, and vibrations. This product was developed based on ultra-lightweight design technology and mass production experience accumulated through the company’s mobile materials business. By beginning to supply materials for humanoid robots, ICH Co., Ltd. has not only diversified its application areas but also secured a new growth engine. Humanoid robots, where lightweight design and durability against repetitive motions are critical, are considered a prime sector where the application of high-performance PU foam is expected to expand in the future. ICH Co., Ltd. is also expanding its achievements in the mobile materials sector through new supply contracts for premium smartphone lines. The company is supplying electromagnetic interference (EMI) gaskets and high-performance foam materials to SamsungElectronics’ “Galaxy Z Fold 8” and “Galaxy Z Flip 8,” and its polyethylene (PE) foam-based cushioning solution has been adopted for Apple’s foldable devices. A company official stated, “We have begun full-scale delivery this month of materials for humanoid robots, which we successfully secured orders for after passing our clients’ rigorous quality evaluations,” adding, “We will actively cultivate materials for humanoid robots as a new growth engine, building on this supply agreement.” The official further noted, “We will do our utmost to enhance corporate value based on our expanding achievements in the mobile and humanoid robot sectors.”
