[Edaily Starin Choi Hee-jae Reporter] As the number of moviegoers flocking to special theaters has increased alongside the box office success of the film "The Odyssey," CGV is limiting the number of tickets available for screenings at "Yong-A-Max" (Yongsan IMAX).

On the 27th, CGV announced via its official website, “Due to the recent surge in demand for IMAX ticket reservations, we are temporarily adjusting the number of tickets available for reservation at the Yongsan I’Park Mall IMAX theater to provide more customers with the opportunity to book tickets and maintain a stable booking environment.”
The number of tickets available for purchase for films screening at the CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall IMAX theater will be temporarily limited to a maximum of four tickets per transaction and per day. This measure applies to reservations made after the announcement on the 27th; regular theaters and other special theaters at the Yongsan IMAX complex will continue to operate as usual. Separate notices regarding any changes or the end of this policy will be provided at a later date.
“The Odyssey” is the first feature-length film to be shot entirely with an IMAX film camera. In South Korea, CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall is considered the optimal venue for screening the film, as it supports the 1.43:1 IMAX aspect ratio.
As the “Yong-IMAX” frenzy intensified and scalping became rampant, CGV temporarily implemented a limit on the number of tickets that can be purchased per reservation. CGV also stated, “We will continuously monitor ticket purchases made through unauthorized channels and the resale of tickets for profit, and we will do our best to ensure that more customers have a stable opportunity to purchase tickets.”
