[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] Vaccine specialist EuBiologics Co., Ltd.(206650)announced on the 28th that it will begin full-scale development and global commercialization of a therapeutic vaccine for Alzheimer's disease, based on an additional investment in its U.S. subsidiary, EuPOP Life Sciences.

EuBiologics Co., Ltd. recently decided to invest US$10 million (approximately 13.8 billion won) in EuPOP Life Sciences. Upon completion of the investment, its stake will increase to 80 percent, and the funds are planned to be allocated to the clinical development of its premium vaccine pipeline, which includes treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, shingles, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
In particular, “PADIVAX,” a therapeutic vaccine candidate for Alzheimer’s disease, recently submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for a Phase 1 clinical trial in Korea to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and is poised to enter its first-in-human clinical trial. PADIVAX is an active immunotherapy vaccine that simultaneously targets amyloid beta (Aβ) and tau, the key pathological proteins associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
This candidate drug combines EuBiologics Co., Ltd.’s TLR4 agonist-based immune enhancement technology (EuIMT) with Pop Biotechnology’s nanoparticle-based antigen display technology (SNAP). According to the company, preclinical trial results confirmed a strong antibody response against amyloid beta and tau, and demonstrated improvements in cognitive function and memory in Alzheimer’s animal models in which both pathological proteins were simultaneously induced.
EuBiologics Co., Ltd. plans to develop YuPop Life Sciences into a global hub for clinical trials and business development of premium vaccines, and intends to continue securing technology transfers and investments from global pharmaceutical and biotech companies based on the clinical results of its key pipeline.
A representative from EuBiologics Co., Ltd. stated, “Building on this investment, we will accelerate the clinical development and global commercialization of premium vaccines, including those for Alzheimer’s,” adding, “Through the Padivax clinical trial, we will validate the potential of dual-target therapeutic vaccines and translate this into successful global technology transfers and joint development initiatives.”
