According to distributor Universal Pictures, “The Odyssey” surpassed 8 million cumulative viewers as of 6:43 p.m. on the 28th, its 24th day in theaters (based on the Integrated Computerized Network for Movie Tickets).
This pace is two days faster than that of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”—this year’s top-grossing foreign film (which surpassed 8 million on its 26th day)—as well as “The Man Who Lives with the King,” the only film this year to reach 10 million viewers (which also surpassed 8 million on its 26th day).
As a result, *The Odyssey* has set a new milestone as the 2026 release to reach 8 million viewers in the shortest time, once again proving its overwhelming box office appeal.
“The Odyssey” continues to fuel excitement at the box office, demonstrating unwavering box office momentum even in its fourth week of release. Having maintained its unchallenged lead at the top of the box office every single day since its opening, the film has surpassed 560,000 advance tickets sold in its fourth week, showcasing its potential for a long-term box office run.
Notably, even amid a string of new releases, the film has maintained a firm lead in both box office revenue and advance ticket sales. As it approaches its one-month anniversary, its unwavering box office momentum has drawn attention to whether it will surpass 8 million viewers and how its box office performance will unfold in the coming weeks.
“The Odyssey” depicts the journey of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the hero who led the Trojan War to victory after a decade-long conflict, as he sets out to return to his wife Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway) and his son Telemachus (played by Tom Holland). The film stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya Coleman, and Charlize Theron.
