Now in its sixth year, the “PlayGalaxy Cup” is a tournament where players compete in global mobile gaming using Galaxy smartphones. Notably, this year marked the first time the event was restructured into a formal league system—featuring regional qualifiers leading up to the World Finals—moving beyond a simple one-off event.
Starting last February, 32 teams from 17 countries across five regions—North America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central and South America, and Europe—participated in intense qualifying rounds. A total of 10 teams (from 9 countries)—the top two teams from each region—were ultimately selected to compete for the championship trophy at the World Finals over two days, from the 27th to the 28th, with the Malaysian team ultimately claiming the title.
The players competed using SamsungElectronics’ latest flagship model, the “Galaxy S26 Ultra.” Equipped with a powerful, high-performance processor and an optimized thermal management system, the Galaxy S26 Ultra delivered a stable gaming environment even during prolonged, high-intensity matches, earning high praise from participants.
The finals were broadcast live worldwide via the YouTube channel of the globally popular streamer “Ludwig,” generating significant buzz with a cumulative view count of 12.1 million.
An experience zone was also set up at the on-site booth where visitors could try out the latest foldable lineup, including the “Galaxy Z Fold8” and “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.” Visitors played popular games from major global partners—such as Hoyoverse, Timi Studio, and Gameloft—on the latest mobile devices.
Moon Ki-wook, Group Leader of the Influencer Marketing Group at SamsungElectronics’ MX Business Division, said, “This year, we expanded the ‘PlayGalaxy Cup (#PlayGalaxy Cup)’ for the first time into a regular league format so that gaming fans around the world could enjoy the entire tournament process together, from regional qualifiers to the World Finals.” He added, “Moving forward, we will continue to provide diverse gaming experiences to gamers worldwide based on Galaxy’s powerful mobile gaming performance.”
