[Edaily Kang Gyeong-rok Travel Reporter] The Korea Smart Tourism Association and the Korea MICE Tourism Content Association are setting out to identify joint projects that integrate smart tourism technology with MICE and regional tourism content.

The Korea Smart Tourism Association and the Korea MICE Tourism Content Association announced that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 21st at the Seoul Tourism Foundation in Jongno-gu, Seoul, to establish a cooperative framework for the tourism industry. Through this agreement, the two associations agreed to combine their expertise in smart tourism and the MICE and tourism content sectors and to expand business cooperation among their member companies. They will also jointly pursue initiatives such as developing tourism content to revitalize regional tourism, training professionals, operating educational programs, and sharing domestic and international tourism industry information and networks. They also agreed to jointly host seminars and forums addressing current industry issues and to collaborate on proposing policies related to the tourism industry. Specific joint projects and implementation schedules will be determined through future discussions. Lee Il-ju, Chairman of the Korea Smart Tourism Association, stated, “The importance of convergence between technology and content, as well as between regions and companies, is growing in the tourism industry,” adding, “We will contribute to the growth and enhanced competitiveness of tourism companies by leveraging the expertise and networks of both associations.” Shim Woo-seop, Chairman of the Korea MICE Tourism Content Association, remarked, “By integrating smart tourism technologies and ideas into MICE and tourism content, we will be able to create new tourism demand and added value,” and added, “We will work together to ensure that exchanges among member companies lead to actual joint projects.”
