[Edaily Starin Gim Ga Yeong Reporter] SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia,” starring Kim Ji-won, Lee Jung-eun, and Son Hyun-joo, has set its premiere date for October 9.

On the 31st, SBS announced the premiere date for “Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia” and released photos from the script reading session.
In attendance were Director Lee Jeong-rim, writer Pyeon Seong-geun, as well as Kim Ji-won, Lee Jeong-eun, Son Hyun-joo, Kim Woo-seok, Lee Jin-hee, Kim Young-min, Lee Seong-wook, Kwon Seung-woo, Heo Jun-seok, Choi Deok-mun, Kim Jeong-young, Kim Young-ah, and Choi Gwang-il.
Kim Ji-won plays the role of Gye Su-jeong, a genius “dark hero” doctor who relies solely on her surgical skills. Gye Su-jeong is a surgeon dispatched by a doctor staffing agency—a so-called “mad dog of the operating room” who single-handedly overturns the hierarchical order at Guseo University Hospital, where corruption runs rampant. Kim Ji-won portrays the character’s unapproachable demeanor as she remains fully focused on surgery.
Lee Jung-eun plays “Jang Hee-sook,” the director of the physician staffing agency. Jang Hee-sook appears to be a money-hungry opportunist but is actually a shrewd strategist; she takes charge of handling the affairs of her affiliated doctor, Gye Su-jeong, and is expected to bring a new layer of entertainment to the drama. She showcased her solid acting skills during the script reading.
Son Hyun-joo takes on the role of “Bu Seung-kwon,” the director of the branch hospital of Gu Seo University Hospital. Bu Seung-kwon is a character who struggles tirelessly to revive a university hospital on the brink of collapse. Son Hyun-joo’s deep acting prowess perfectly aligns with the character, maximizing the audience’s immersion.
The “Doctor X” production team stated, “Despite it being their first time working together, the script reading session reached peak immersion thanks to the actors’ solid acting skills and captivating character portrayals,” adding, “With the explosive synergy between actors who have fully embodied their roles already evident, you can look forward to the birth of a new ‘medical dark hero’ who will carry on the SBS Cider Universe.”
“Doctor X” tells the story of Gye Su-jeong, who shatters injustice with nothing but her genius surgical skills, refusing to accept failure or compromise. It is based on the Japanese drama of the same name. The series premieres on October 9.
