[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] Raon Medi, a subsidiary of AI specialist LaonPeople Inc.(300120), announced on the 31st that it has been selected as the lead company for the “Digital Orthodontic AI Technology Advancement Project,” one of the government’s National Strategic AI Healthcare Initiatives.
Accordingly, the company will carry out government projects through 2028, including advancing AI-based automated orthodontic planning technology to the next level and developing an “Agent AI” that enables medical professionals and AI to interact in performing diagnoses and orthodontic planning.
In particular, the company will focus on the “Development of an Intelligent Digital Orthodontic Planning Agent AI” based on multimodal oral data and a dental knowledge graph. The system being developed will implement an Agent AI that supports diagnosis and orthodontic planning based on the integrated analysis of various oral data and dental knowledge.
Furthermore, the company aims to build an environment where multiple AI agents can be utilized simultaneously to streamline orthodontic planning tasks—which require advanced medical knowledge and complex 3D work—and reduce individual task times to 30% or less of current levels.
Regarding this, a Raonmedi official stated, “This domain-specific AI development project is a recognition of the direction Raonmedi has been pursuing in orthodontic AI and automation technologies,” adding, “We will fully advance Agent AI technology to build a new orthodontic planning environment where medical professionals and AI collaborate, and we will enhance our competitiveness in the global market by advancing orthodontic AI technology.”
Supported by the Korea Institute of SME and Technology Information, this two-year project has a budget of 2.5 billion won. As the lead company, Raon Medi has secured the largest share of the R&D funding—1.7 billion won—while specialized dental manufacturers such as See-Through Tech, BioCetech, and RealLiner are participating in joint development. Yonsei University Dental Hospital and Jeonbuk National University Dental Hospital are participating as commissioned research institutions.
Raon Medi plans to lead the relevant market by not only developing Agent AI in collaboration with participating institutions but also integrating them into actual manufacturing processes to verify and refine their field applicability and practicality for commercialization. By securing AI-based orthodontic solutions that enhance the competitiveness of domestic dental manufacturers in the global market, the company aims to contribute to improving the operating performance and corporate value of its parent company, LaonPeople Inc., through stable revenue growth and improved financial results.
