Sunmi’s agency, Abyss Company, announced this news in a notice posted on its official social media accounts on the 1st.
Sunmi had originally been scheduled to hold the fan meeting “Meet SUNMI in Late Summer” at NEOVANA in Shanghai on the 5th.
Abyss Company explained, “After conducting a final review of local operations and all preparatory matters ahead of the event, we determined that, given the current state of preparations, it would be difficult to fully guarantee the stable event management and high-quality fan meeting experience that we prioritize.”
The company added, “Above all, we believe it is crucial to provide an environment where both the artist and fans can enjoy the event with peace of mind and to deliver a performance that meets the standards we originally promised. Therefore, after consulting with the local organizers, we regret to inform you that we have no choice but to cancel this Shanghai fan meeting.”
Abyss Company stated, “We are sincerely sorry and deeply regret having to deliver this sudden news of cancellation to the fans who have been waiting for and supporting the fan meeting,” adding, “Tickets purchased will be fully refunded through the local organizers and each official ticketing channel.”
Sunmi, a former member of the girl group Wonder Girls, has been active with songs such as “Gashina,” “Protagonist,” “Siren,” “Noir,” “Nallari,” and “I’m Getting Hot.” Last July, she released her new song “Forever July.”
